The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration process nationwide. Prospective candidates can register for the examination at Board-approved CBT centres, accredited registration points and JAMB offices across Nigeria.
Registration Window & Deadlines
- Sale of e-PINs (registration tokens) began earlier in January 2026 and will close at midnight on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
- Candidates with e-PINs must complete their registration at accredited CBT centres by Saturday, February 28, 2026.
- JAMB has ruled out any extension of these deadlines, stressing that all interested candidates must complete registration within the stipulated period.
- As of mid-February, over 1.5 million candidates have already registered for the 2026 UTME.
Important Registration Rules JAMB has reiterated that candidates currently enrolled in tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, etc.) are allowed to register for the 2026 UTME/Direct Entry exercise, provided they honestly declare their existing admission status during registration. Failure to do so may lead to forfeiture of both current and future admissions.
Warnings to Candidates The Board warns that providing false information during registration can jeopardise a candidate’s chance of admission and may attract sanctions. Aspiring candidates are urged to ensure accuracy in their biodata and details before submission.
Registration Fees & Facilities While exact charges vary depending on registration package (e.g., UTME only, UTME + Mock, Direct Entry), JAMB has maintained its fee structure without major increases for 2026.
Final Reminder All candidates are strongly encouraged to act quickly due to the fast-approaching deadline and the Board’s insistence that no extensions will be granted.
